Meridan State College is proud to launch our new SFET Education Centre
Our team is curious, passionate, reflective and creative. We experiment, iterate, innovate, collaborate and share. We listen. We seek, capture, curate, tell and share stories to connect with others and to better understand learning, innovation and transformative practices. We believe that the best learning happens when people and communities connect, collaborate and learn from, with and for each other.
Tony Roberts is the College Principal of Meridan State College and the Director of our SFET Education Centre. Tony is an innovative, future-focused leader who is leading the design and implementation of a new 15 year vision for the Meridan State College community.
Tony has extensive experience working in a diverse range of education settings across Queensland and the Northern Territory with his role prior to joining Meridan being an Assistant Regional Director for the North Coast Region on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
Kristine has extensive experience teaching, managing and leading professional development and innovative projects in P-12 education settings. Her past roles have included managing numerous statewide projects at the ICT Learning Innovation Centre including the Games in Learning and Early Years ICT project. She has also managed the FNQ Learning Development Centre ICTs and Meridan's Contemporary Learning Hub.
Kristine has a Masters of Education specialising in leveraging technology for learning and has received numerous international and statewide awards for her work in this area including the International Society of Technology in Education's Making IT Happen Award.
Bronwen is our SFET Education Centre's Events Logistics Officer. She has extensive experience in a broad range of administration roles within education and other settings and also provides administrative and event logistics support to our Contemporary Learning Hub sister centre.
Bronwen excels at event logistics and has an amazing attention to detail which is just what our SFET Education Centre needs because as you will see when you engage with us, we're usually juggling numerous events and projects at any one time. Bronwen handles the registrations, logistics and catering for all of our face-to-face events and is your point of contact if you need help with your registration or have general questions about our learning programs or events.
As part of our exploration of Artificial Intelligence, our team unashamedly leverages AI to complete certain tasks for the organisation, marketing and logistics of our Centre's operations.
The use of AI tools as a virtual assistant (we refer to this assistant affectionately as AI-leen) enables us to spend time doing the things we'd rather been doing like researching and trialling emerging technologies, keeping abreast of innovative practices being used in future focused schools and collaborating with educators, students and community members in our local and global communities.
From time to time, we'll post blog entries on our SFET Education Centre Stories of Learning blog to share how we are using AI both in the Education Centre and in our classrooms at Meridan. Sometimes we'll write the blog ourselves. Sometimes AI-leen will be prompted to do so. Either way, we're sure it will give you an insight into the possibilities of AI for teaching and learning.
The work of our SFET Education Centre is supported and informed by a team of creative, engaged and futures-focused educators working in a diverse range of leadership, teaching and learning contexts on Meridan's P-12 campus.
